Ashford Athletic Club has a Masters section for both men and women.  We compete on the road, track/field and cross-country and have athletes competing at both county, national and international level.

We train Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm.  Vets athletes will be training in their relevant event with senior and U20 category athletes which provides a good level of competition.

If you are interested in Vets competition or just training then please come along on a club night (please note that you will not have to attend the normal club induction).  If you have any questions please contact Paul Wheeler.

Ashford Athletic Club compete within Division 1 of the mens Southern Counties Veterans Athletics Club and Division 2 of the womens league. Visit www.scvac.org.uk for more information.

2011 Season

The 2011 vets track season will shortly be upon us and I hope you are all fit and up for the challenge. Last season we were extremely successful to finish 2nd in SCVAC Kent league Division 1 and an excellent 3rd in the SCVAC final.

The main goal this year will not be to remain in this league but to win it and hopefully break Blackheath’s monopoly on this trophy. I am very confident that we can do this but it will require us to perform to our very best in all events. It is therefore essential that we fill every discipline with our strongest athletes at each meeting.

The 2012 fixture dates and venues are as follows:

27th April, Bromley - report from meeting
25th May, Dartford
15th June, Bromley
2nd July, Ashford
16th July, Erith

Report from 27th April meeting, Bromley:
An excellent all round effort saw Ashford finish second to Blackheath & Bromley in the first match of SCVAC Kent Division 1. There were individual wins for Steve Lake and Steve Langford in the V35 and V50 TJ. Wayne Howe won V50 hammer with just over 31m, Mick Goodall won V50 pole vault with 2.80m and Kevin Williams won the V50 3k in 10.29. The remainder of the team put up a gutsey performance and with several keys Ashford currently lie 2nd in the league.

Match result: B&B 61 points, Ashford 57, Cambridge 53, Medway & Maidstone 53, Dartford 50, Bexley 43
