Ashford AC Cross Country Squads produced great performances over the weekend at the first Kent Cross Country League of the Season at Swanley Park. First race of the day saw youngster’s Lydia Forsyth and Hannah Brooks work well together to finish 31st (Lydia) and 32nd (Hannah) in times of 11.24 and 11.27 for the 2.5km race. Next up Marshall Smith in the U15 Boys race finished strong in 36th position in a time of 16.51 over the 4km course. Dec Burton ran a brilliant race to mix with the county’s best runners to finish an excellent 8th place over the 5km course in a time of 16.57.
Final races of the day saw Seniors Kevin William and Andy Robertson finish 61st and 117th over the 10km course, which was also the largest assembled field across the Country in all the Cross Country Leagues. Kent’s Senor Men saw 186 finishers that day.
Jenny Brown finished a strong 50th in the Senior Women’s race. Well done to all who took part! Manager Janine Brown is very much looking forward to the next race which is Saturday 26th October at Somerhill School in Tonbridge. With many key athletes missing due to illnesses and injuries, AAC will be looking to build on the points tally in the next round.
