Wayne secures Masters titles

ASHFORD AC’s Wayne Howe had a good weekend at the KCAA Masters championships in Erith taking the M50 javelin gold with a convincing personal best 40.14m and also took the county title in the discus with 32.12m.
Wayne also claimed silvers in the hammer with a personal best 35.09m and shot with 9.56m.
Pete Davey had a fine victory in the V35 100m winning in12.28 and also claimed the silver in the 110m hurdles with 16.33. Steve Langford secured theV50 long jump with 5.20m.
At the other end of the age scale Ashford secured four medals in the Kent Combined events championships at Erith.
They did a clean sweep on the U15 girls pentathlon with rising star Kayleigh Miller-Leslie taking the gold from teammates Lauren Bamford and Hester Hill.
In the U17 hepathlon Laura Hanagan was outstanding winning the title with 3906 points while Lucy Holmes was sixth.
Ashford had a fine double in the U13 championships with Ben Isaac winning the 75m hurdles title in 12.43 holding off teammate Alex Lynch who clocked 12.86.
Alex also lifted a bronze in the 200m with 28.79 after winning his heat in 28.46.
Emily Hamlyn took a silver in the 70m hurdles with 12.45 but narrowly missed out qualifying for the final in the 150m.
In the boy’s shot Edward Miller claimed silver with 7.16m with teammate Jack Munford third with 5.47m and Miller just missed another medal taking fourth in the 100m with 14.11..
Daniel Steadman took the silver in the javelin throwing 29.77m and reached the final of the 800m finishing in fifth place while Amber Guyatt missed a medal on countback in the girl’s high jump taking fourth with 1.25m.
