U13s show the way

A SUPERB display by Ashford U13 boys helped keep the club in the title race in the Kent Young Athletes League meeting at Erith.
They finished a fine second spurred by three double successes and victory in the relay.
Alex Lynch led the way winning the 75m hurdles with Ben Isaac taking the B string honours and they were joined by George Hogben and Luke Busumbru to take the 4x100m relay. Lynch also also took second in the long jump and third in the 200m.
Another winning double came in the discus where Luke dominated the A event winning with 19.25m while Lewis Hagger took B honours with a fine 13.17m.
Isaac had a convincing win in the A javelin with 25.64m with Edward Miller the B winner with an equally impressive 22.48m. Ben also won the B 200m while Miller secured victory in the B 100m.
Hagger also capped a busy day with second in the B high jump wher Hogben finished third in the A event and Lewis was also second in the B shot with George third in the A throws.
Also in action were Jacob Sivyer and Sam Marsh.
The U15 boys were lifted by a a double second in the 100m from Nathan Fatola and George McClennan.
Nathan was also third in the long jump, fifth in the discus and anchored the 4x100m squad that took a fine second along with Temi Banwo, Max Reeves and Wesley Potter.
McClennan notched a very close second on the line in the 400m and was fourth in the 800m where Declan O’Driscoll was third in the B race.
Other thirds came from Reeves in the A 80m hurdles and B discus and Potter in the B long jump.
The U13 girls also had a good day just edged into third while the U15s emulated the boys by also taking fifth.
Young Emem Umoh was the U13 star winning the 150m on the line with Eleanor Potter third in the B race and Emem also won the B javelin, where Annamarie Gould was second in the A event, and was also second in the A long jump.
Eleanor won the B 1200m walk with Amber Guyatt in second in the A walk and there wasa double second for Amber and Annamarie in the 600m.
Emem was joined by Mary Coleman, Georgia Bamford and Emily Hamlyn for second in the 4x100m relay. There was another two A & B second places in the discus for Coleman and Rebecca Cock while in the shot Coleman was third in the A competition and Bamford second in the B contest.
There were three victories for the U15 squad with Lauren Bamford winning the A 75m hurdles convincingly and Rebecca Roddy claimed A success and Charlotte Roberts the B honours in the 1200m walk.
Lauren also claimed thirds in the A 300m and shot and a second in the 4x100m relay along with Hamlyn, Amber Currie and Hester Hill.
Hester was third in A high jump and B discus while there were A and B thirds for Hamlyn and Currie in the long jump and Polly Abbott and Erin Maxwell in the javelin.
The girls’ teams finished third overall on the day.
